Stars Flicker in a Winter Sky - track 05

The Taxi Driver

And the taxi driver said – that’s not enough for the fare - No way I can take you there
I stood alone on the open road - Lifted eyes to the mountains - Lightened the load – maybe over there I could find my soul - Fresh mountain air to make me feel whole
And the taxi driver said – that’s not enough for the fare - No way I can take you there

On the edge of the desert – burning sand - Distant mirage of green - Light on the land – maybe over there I could find my way - Drink cool water for the rest of my days
And the taxi driver says – that’s not enough for the fare - No way I can take you there

High up a Cathedral tower – looks over the little town - Surely up there I would feel the power - Maybe an answer in that exalted place - Monument of wonder – surely there I would find grace - And the taxi driver says – that’s not enough for the fare
No way I can take you there

Sitting alone in the little room - Dark midnight silence in that place called home
Then in the silence a gentle voice - No need to search so far
This love I give freely wherever you are - And the taxi driver says
You don’t need a fare - I think you’re already there - And the taxi driver says
You don’t need a fare - I think you’re already there
